Llado made her debut on the distance of a marathon in 1999. at her first attempt, she took the victory in the Marathon du Medoc, setting an all-time record for the distance of 2:38.34 hours. It would be her last race of her career when she decided to retire in the year 2000.

It was one of the most active in her career. Her first appearance was during the 1998 IAAF World Cross Country Championships but was not able to complete the race. She earned her initial track championship of her career in the 1998 European Cup, finishing third in the 5000-meter race for her bronze award. She increased the French record in the race two times that year: first, she completed the race in 15:16.13 minutes in the Meeting Gaz de France in Paris Then she improved her time to 15:11.26 minutes in the Golden Gala in Rome. She was selected to be a representative for France during the 1998 European Athletics Championships but she did not finish the race. She competed in 1998’s IAAF Grand Prix Final in Moscow and placed eighth in the 5000m.

With her family reliant upon her athletics income, she felt unable to escape the situation but after her father emptied her bank accounts she fled to Lausanne, Switzerland to start a new life.
