From 1998 and onwards, Russell spent over ten years co-hosting the award- winning morning show on Trent FM alongside Andy “Twiggy” Twigge, who previously worked with her at the sister station Ram FM in Derby. Through this time, Russell won various awards for her work, including the four Sony Awards, the 2008 Arqiva Commercial Radio Presenter of the Year award, and the title of The Best Breakfast show during the 2007 European Radio Awards. In September 2008 Russell became a part of Absolute Radio as the host of a mid-morning weekend show that lasted for about 13 months.

In July of 2015, Russell and Colerangle moved to Free Radio’s Shropshire and Black Country station to co-present Jo and Sparky during the weekday breakfast slot. The show began on July 20, 2015, Monday at 6am. Since the beginning of 2016, the two also host the Saturday morning show on the sister station Gem 106.

The year 2014 was the time that Russell has been awarded with in 2014 the Local and the National Lifetime Achievement award by the Radio Academy.
