Zorn was born in May 1953 in the United States. He played football in high school and college, and was drafted by the NFL’s Seattle Seahawks in 1976. He played for the Seahawks for seven seasons, from 1976 to 1982. He then played for the Green Bay Packers for two seasons, from 1983 to 1984. He returned to the Seahawks in 1985, and played for them for one more season, before retiring from football in 1986.

After retiring from playing football, Zorn became a coach. He served as the offensive coordinator for the Seattle Seahawks from 1995 to 1997. He then became the head coach of the Seahawks from 2001 to 2002. He was then the head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs from 2009 to 2011. He was fired from the Chiefs after the 2011 season.
