in 2012 Caplan joined forces with Producer Dub Mentor on the single Want You More, which was a reworking of the Robert Palmer song. In 2013, they collaborated on a second variation of The Crying Game. Both singles were part of Dub Mentor’s Versions project (released on the alternative/minimalist label EnT-T) and she directed both video clips for the songs.
In 2004 her debut single was “Comme elle vient”, an album she co-wrote by another former member from Les Innocents, Jean-Christophe Urbain. They toured together on an acoustic concert tour around Burma. The year 2006 was the time she conducted the recording process of French artist Patxi Garat’s first album (“S’embrasser”) which was produced by Urbain. In 2007, following 10 years of absence, Caplan joined up with Alanski again. She composed the majority of the lyrics, and Alanski composed all the music for the seventh studio album called Derriere la porte. Her first hit single is “Des toutes petites choses”.

Born in Paris, Valentine Guilen studied modern literature at the Sorbonne and theater at Cours Florent. It was there that she came across Jay Alanski, producer and music director of some of the most famous pop hits from the 1980s. In August of 1986 she was with her group Les Innocents, then unknown by the general public at a studio in which the group recorded their debut song “Jodie”, under the direction of Alanski who immediately offered her the opportunity to sing.
When 1992 began, Caplan was awarded an award called Victoire de la Musique for Female breakthrough that year. Then Alanski turned towards electronic pop. Caplan created her own music at the time, and then chose Jean-Philippe Naf (ex-member from Les Innocents), to create the album Toute Crue (2001, Warner). Alongside her music-related activities, Caplan, always fascinated by films, made and directed a 45 minute film to promote the band Lilicub. She also wrote for the journal independent Brazil.
