Following a minor stint playing hockey for the Saskatoon Contacts of the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League (SMAAAHL), Reich began his main junior career with the Western Hockey League (WHL) with the Seattle Thunderbirds in 1995-96. Following the second WHL season and he was selected 38th in 1997’s NHL Entry Draft by the Chicago Blackhawks. After being selected and subsequently resigned from the WHL and, during the 1997-98 season the team traded him between Seattle with the Swift Current Broncos in exchange for Jeffrey Beatch on December 20 in 1997.

Reich was a part of his final WHL campaign as a member of the Broncos in 1999-2000. He made the transition to pro the following year in the American Hockey League (AHL) with the Syracuse Crunch. The player made his NHL debut during the 2003-04 season of the Columbus Blue Jackets, playing in 9 games , and scoring one assist in an invitation to play. Then, in the season of 2004/05 AHL season, he was back with the Crunch the team, he was transferred by the Houston Aeros on March 10 the 10th of March, 2005 to facilitate the borrowing of Jason Beckett. In the off-season, he released as a player from the Boston Bruins on September 7 in 2005. After that, he joined Boston’s AHL affiliate called The Providence Bruins. The 2007-08 season was when Reich had his very first NHL goals against the team he played for in his previous career The Columbus Blue Jackets, in an 2-0 win on the 15th of December, 2007.

On April 30, 2011, Reich signed a one-year contract with German team, ERC Igolstadt, of the DEL.
