After a brief time in Ottawa Senators, Doig was a part of the Ottawa Senators organization, Doig was purchased to the Washington Capitals in 2002-03 where Doig was a reliable blueliner at the club, as well as playing the first half of the season playing for Washington Capitals’ AHL affiliate called Portland Pirates. Doig was a player for The Winnipeg Jets as an 18-year-old between 1995 and

1996. He stayed with the team when the team relocated in Arizona in 1996-97, and later became known as the Phoenix Coyotes. He was then signed by in the New York Rangers in a trade before the deadline of March 1999. He was a 6’3″ blueliner was a part of the Blueshirts and also played with the American Hockey League’s Hartford Wolf Pack where he won the Calder Cup in 2000. The big blueliner spent two seasons with the New York Rangers organization before being traded by Ottawa Senators. When he was a kid he was a participant at the Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament as part of The North Shore minor ice hockey team.

In the 2006–2007 season he played for Traktor Chelyabinsk in Russian Super League and finished the season in the Swiss National League A with the Langnau SCL Tigers. In that same year, Jason represented Team Canada once again at the Spengler Cup in Davos, Switzerland where the team won the Silver Medal. In the 2007–2008 season, he played in Switzerland with EHC Basel. He then signed a contract for the remainder of the season with the Norwegian top division team Stavanger Oilers. After Stavanger was eliminated from the Norwegian playoffs, Doig announced that he would retire.[1]
