Following graduation, Omejec started working as an assistant in the Department of Administrative Law of the Osijek Faculty of Law (1986-1990). In 1990, she moved into the Faculty of Law of the University of Zagreb where she was a post-graduate lecturer in the fields of administrative law and political sciences and was preparing for postgraduate studies. Omejec earned her PhD in Administrative Law in 1994. In 1999 she became appointed to the position of judge at the Constitutional Court of Croatia by the Croatian Parliament. The election was backed by Croatia’s Liberal Party, Croatian Peasant Party, Istrian Democratic Assembly and Croatian People’s Party – Liberal Democrats. Omejec was vice president and deputy presidency of the Constitutional Court. On June 12 in 2008. Omejec got elected the very first female President of the Constitutional Court. The 12th of June, 2012 the Parliament chose her to serve a second term as a judge on the Constitutional Court. She was also elected as the President of the Court. During her presidency, she administered the oath of president of third President Croatia Ivo Josipovic, on the 18th of February 2010, and to president of Croatia Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic on the 14th of February Croatia Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic on the 15th of February 2015 (for an initial term that began on February 19, 2015). This was the first time two women took part in the ceremony for the inauguration of the president.
Omejec is an associate and co-founder of the Croatian Academy of Legal Sciences since 2001. She was a long-time member in the Liberal Party.

Jasna Omejec (born 9 January 1962) is an Croatian jurist who was the fourth President of the Constitutional Court of Croatia. Omejec became the first woman to hold been elected to the post. From 1990 onwards, Omejec is a professor at the Chair of Administrative Law of the Zagreb Faculty of Law.
