Jaroslav Beck, a Czech music composer and co-founder of Beat Games s.r.o. was born 29 May 1988 in Strakonice. Beck is also well-known for his music compositions for Blizzard Entertainment’s Overwatch short movies and an award-winning introduction trailer StarCraft: Legacy of the Void.

He teamed up with Pavel Kacerle, a visual effects artist. Jaroslav was responsible for sound effects and original music in Pavel’s Iron Man 3 demo reel. This was a significant step towards his career. He was noticed abroad by the music he created for the demo reel. While still in Oxford, he received his first job offer to remix music for EA Games’ Battlefield Hardline trailer. Jaroslav started working full-time on trailers for movies and games after receiving more work offers. He worked on Battlefield 4 Final Stand, and another Battlefield Hardline. He began to work with Blizzard Entertainment after that. His first trailer was Heroes of the Storm (2015), followed by StarCraft II Legacy of the Void (2015) where Jaroslav remixed original StarCraft music. He won a G.A.N.G. award in 2016. He was part of the StarCraft II: Legacy of the Void team and won the Award for the Best Cinematic/Cutscene Audio. Joshua Crispin, a.k.a. Generdyn contributed music to the Terminator Genisys TV commercial in 2015, as well as for Star Wars Episode VII: The Force awakens TV commercial. He collaborated with Cliff Bleszinski on music composition for Blizzard’s “Overwatch” short movies (Alive, Hero, Dragons), and he began to work with BossKey, Cliff Bleszinski’s company, on trailers, soundtracks, and other elements for “LawBreakers”.

Jaroslav founded Epic Music Productions in 2016. The company focuses on modern cinematic music production mainly for trailers and soundtracks for both the music and gaming industry. The company’s speciality is production of the complete audio content for new games from soundtrack, through sound design to sound for trailers alone. Their clients are from all over the world, mainly from the USA. In the future they are planning to focus on virtual reality audio projects and also on new audio hardware development to innovate sound for soundtracks as such.

In 2016 Beck founded his own company, Epic Music Productions, which was focused on creating soundtrack compositions for both the gaming and the film industry. In 2018 Beck founded Beat Games with Jan Ilavsky and Vladimir Hrincar, the company behind viral VR game Beat Saber which is the first virtual reality game to sell one million copies.

He left the University of West Bohemia in 2012 to go to Oxford to study Audio Production at SAE Institute. He changed his DJ name to “Sqeepo” in Oxford and began to gravitate towards electronic music called “Dubstep”. He spent his time at SAE studying and composing music in a studio. He composed music for Kristina, a top-ranking Slovak singer.

He began flying gliders at the age of 14. He completed his training and was licensed as a pilot a year later. He found this to be a crucial step in his journey to music. It gave him the confidence and helped him make the decision to quit his job and follow music full-time. He began his secondary technical school studies in Strakonice in 2003 and also started working as a DJ. He enrolled in University of West Bohemia to continue the family tradition. He studied at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering from 2007 until he left in 2012.
