Jared Golden is one of the most popular and richest Military Personnel who was born on July 25, 1982 in Lewiston, United States. Golden was 2,000 votes behind Poliquin on election night. Because neither candidate was able to win a majority of the vote, Maine’s new ranked-choice voting system required that independents Tiffany Bond or William Hoar’s votes be redistributed to Poliquin and Golden according to their second choice. Exit polls showed that 90% of independents’ supporters considered Golden their second choice. This was sufficient to allow Golden victory. After the final tabulation, the independents’ supporters voted for Golden as their second choice. This allowed him to defeat Poliquin with 3,000 votes. He is the first challenger in the district to defeat an incumbent since 1916.

Golden was sworn in as U.S. Representative on January 3, 2019. During the election for Speaker of the House, he voted against Democratic Caucus nominee Nancy Pelosi, as he had pledged to do during his campaign, instead voting for Representative Cheri Bustos of Illinois. On December 18, 2019, Golden voted for Article I of the articles of impeachment against Donald Trump but was one of three Democrats to vote against Article II.

On February 6, 2020, Golden endorsed Colorado Senator Michael Bennet for president.

Golden returned to Maine in 2013, to work in the House Democratic Office of the Maine Legislature. Golden, a Democrat running for the Maine House, was elected in 2014. He represented part of Lewiston. In 2016, he was reelected. He was reelected in 2016.

Jared Forrest Golden, born July 25, 1982, is an American politician. He has been the U.S. Rep for Maine’s 2nd congressional District since 2019. His district, which is the largest east side of the Mississippi River, is a member of the Democratic Party. It covers the northern four-fifths, which includes Auburn, Bangor, Lewiston and Bangor. Golden was the first representative of Congress to be elected through ranked-choice voting. As a United States Marine, he was deployed to Afghanistan and Iraq.

Golden was born in Lewiston, and raised in Leeds. He attended Leavitt High School. Golden was enrolled at the University of Maine at Farmington as a student, but he left without completing a degree. He joined the United States Marine Corps in 2002 and served combat tours in Iraq & Afghanistan.

On August 24, 2017, Golden announced his candidacy against Bruce Poliquin to serve in the United States House of Representatives for Maine’s 2nd congressional district . On June 20, 2018, he was declared the winner of the Democratic primary.
