Jared Dwight Gaither, born March 18, 1986, is an American football offensive tackle. He played in the National Football League. The Baltimore Ravens drafted him in the fifth round, 2007 Supplemental Draft. He played college football for Maryland.

Cam Cameron, the offensive coordinator for the 2008 NFL season declared Gaither the starting left tackle at the beginning of off-season camp. He played well despite sustaining an ankle injury in training camp and was a major reason for the Baltimore Ravens’ improved offensive line.

On November 30, 2011, Gaither was claimed off waivers by the San Diego Chargers. On March 14, 2012, Gaither signed a 4-year contract with the Chargers. Gaither was released on March 27, 2013.

On August 11, 2011, Gaither signed with the Kansas City Chiefs. He was waived on November 29, 2011.

Because of academic difficulties, Gaither was unable to participate in spring practices 2007 at Maryland. Ralph Friedgen, Terps coach, told reporters on June 25 that Gaither’s academic performance had not met his expectations and that he wouldn’t be able play in 2007. He would be eligible to come back in 2008. Gaither instead declared for the NFL’s Supplemental Draft and was selected by the Baltimore Ravens on July 12. Gaither assumed the starting left tackle position from Jonathan Ogden after Ogden retired. Gaither was 6’9″ tall and one of the NFL’s tallest players at the time.

Gaither was a true freshman at University of Maryland in 2005. Gaither missed all of 2010 after an injury put him on Injured Reserve (IR).
