Janet Ellis is one of the most popular and richest Actor who was born on September 16, 1955 in Chatham Borough, New Jersey, United States. Janet Michell Ellis MBE, born 16 September 1955, is an English television presenter and actress. She is most well-known for her work on the children’s TV programmes Blue Peter and Jigsaw, which she presented between 1979 and 1987. Two novels have been published by her: How It Was (2019) and The Butcher’s Hook (2016). She is also the mother to Sophie Ellis-Bextor (singer, former child actor), Jackson Ellis-Leach (drummer), and Martha Ellis-Leach (art historian).

Ellis quit Blue Peter to devote more time to her family. She hosted the BBC’s Open Air program, co-authored a book called How to Get Married without Divorcing Your Family in 1994 with Caron Keating, and voiced numerous commercials. She presented the Daz Challenge in TV ads for three years, and she occasionally appeared on Danny Baker’s BBC Radio 1 program.

In January 2007, Ellis appeared on the BBC reality singing show Just the Two of Us partnered with Alexander O’Neal. Despite being ‘saved’ by Stewart Copeland on the first night, on 3 January 2007 she was the second celebrity to be eliminated, after judge CeCe Sammy described her as having the vocal characteristics of “a cat on speed”. Ellis managed to show good humour in the face of the defeat, stating that she had had “fun, a lot of fun”.

In May 2008 she appeared naked in a magazine in support of PETA and in June of the same year she won The Weakest Link Blue Peter celebrity charity special. She donated the winnings of £13,150 to Maggie’s Centres, a cancer care charity.

Her biggest break was 1979 when she became a regular presenter on the Clive Doig-produced Jigsaw. She also played “Teka”, the Doctor Who character, that same year. After four series of Jigsaw Ellis, she left to join Blue Peter in April 1983. She co-presented for four years with Simon Groom and Sarah Greene. She became the first European civilian woman to free fall from 20,000ft (6,100m) during the run. However, her leg was broken during training. She last appeared on 29 June 1987. Ellis is often believed to have been fired from the program because she was unmarried and pregnant with Jackson. However, Ellis has maintained that she was supported fully by Blue Peter’s production team and that the decision to quit the show was her own.
