DiFiore left the firm in 1987 to continue her work as a part-time attorney at Goodrich & Bendish. She worked there until 1994. DiFiore was also the Bronxville deputy village attorney during this time. DiFiore was appointed chief of the narcotics office under DA Jeanine F. Pirro in 1994.

In November 2005, DiFiore was elected Westchester County district attorney, succeeding Pirro. DiFiore defeated Democrat Tony Castro in the race. She took office the following year. As head of the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office, DiFiore led an office of more than 230 employees.

In August 2007, DiFiore switched party affiliations, from Republican to Democratic. She was twice reelected district attorney, in 2009 and 2013. In September 2009, DiFiore defeated Castro in the Democratic primary and in the general election defeated Castro (who ran on the Independence Party of New York and Working Families Party ballot lines) and Republican candidate Dan Schorr. In 2013, DiFiore ran unopposed.

As a law student, DiFiore interned at Westchester District Attorney Carl A. Vergari. DiFiore graduated from law school in 1981 and became an assistant district lawyer in the Westchester District Attorney’s Office.

She has served as the Chief Judge for the State of New York since 2016. DiFiore is a native New Yorker and graduated from Long Island University’s School of Law and St. John’s University School of Law. DiFiore was a practicing attorney and worked in both a law office and the Westchester District Attorney’s Office. DiFiore was then elected as a Westchester County Court judge and was later named a justice on the New York Supreme Court. She served in this position from 2003 to 2005. DiFiore was elected a judge of the Westchester County Court in 2006. She remained in that post for nearly ten years until Governor Andrew Cuomo appointed DiFiore to the New York Court of Appeals.

Dennis E. Glazer is DiFiore’s husband. They met during law school’s first day and were married at Westchester Country Club in Rye on August 15, 1981. She is now the mother to Alexandra, Joseph, and Michael. She resides in Bronxville.

In 1998, DiFiore was elected a judge of the Westchester County Court. She served in that position from 1999 to 2002. From 2003 to 2005, DiFiore was a justice of the New York Supreme Court (the state trial court in New York).
