A gallery owner in Antwerp invited Jan van der Kooi, Pieter Pander and Pieter Knorr, four Dutch figurative painters, to exhibit their work at a joint exhibition called The four greats of the north. To promote the Dordrechts Museum exhibition, posters featuring Van der Kooi’s tiger drawings were placed at Dutch railway stations in 2012.
He has been giving master classes at Groningen’s Classical Academy for Painters since 2007. Since 2014, he has also given master classes in the Middle East. Van der Kooi was invited by an Israeli painter to give seminars. This is because there are very few classical painters living in Israel and Palestine, due to their short history in classical art.
