Jan Holenda, a Czech professional footballer who was born 22 August 1985, plays as a striker at FK Dukla Prague. Holenda, a journeyman, has played for eight clubs in the Czech First League as well as three in Russia’s Premier League. He won the league titles with Slovan Liberty (2005-06), and Viktoria Plzen (2014)-15 and 2015-16.
After several loan spells Holenda was made a Sparta Prague regular. His first match was on March 10, 2008 against Teplice. This was his second appearance in the early season. At the beginning of the season, Holenda went on the scoring form with four. However soon after, Holenda received a lack of first-team football at the club after the club was purchased by Suleyman Kerimov and the club went on a shopping spree, signing players Samuel Eto’o and Yuri Zhirkov. But he did score a brace in a 5-3 loss against CSKA Moscow on 23 October 2010 and hadn’t scored since. Holenda says he wants a first team football. At the end of the season, Holenda was the second top scorer behind Eto’o.
In January 2010, Holenda joined Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala on a three-year contract. In the opening game of the season on 13 March, Holenda made his debut in a 0-0 draw against Spartak Nalchik. He scored his first goal in a 2-0 win over Alania Vladikavkaz on 3 April and scored a brace in the next games in a 4-2 win over Sibir Novosibirsk on 11 April. Six Month later, he scored in a 3-3 draw against Zenit Saint Petersburg, ending a six-month goal drought. One month later, he scored in a 3-1 win over Terek Grozny on 13 November.
He joined FK Drnovice, a First League side, on loan the next season. He scored five goals in 25 games. He was loaned again to Slovan Liberec the following season. He made 18 appearances and scored four goals as Liberec won their league title. He would stay another season with the club, and would make his Champions League Qualification debut as a substitute against Spartak Moscow. Liberec would lose 2-1 on aggregate, and will now be going to the First Round in the UEFA Cup. Holenda scored a win in the First Round of UEFA Cup against Red Star Belgrade, and advanced to the Stage. The club was eliminated from the Group Stage. Holenda was a part of the club’s UEFA Cup campaign. After his second team was limited, Holenda returned home to Sparta Prague and was loaned to Ceske Budejovice. After a period of loan at Ceske Budejovice in the first half, Holenda was again loaned to Banik Most in September. Holenda made her debut against Ceske Budejovice on September 30, 2007. He made eight appearances, playing 90 minutes with no rest, and he was back at the parent club in January.
