He also suffered a hamstring injury in a 3-2 League Cup victory over Nottingham Forest on 18 September 2007. After his recovery, Wesolowski suffered more hamstring problems and was again injured in a 2-1 loss to West Brom on December 8, which left him out of action until Christmas. Before signing for Leicester City, Wesolowski was a player for the Australian side Northern Spirit. After showing great potential in the reserves, Wesolowski was selected to play for Leicester City in a preseason friendly against Celtic in 2005. However, he broke his leg in an attempt by Bobo Balde. Although he had surgery to repair the leg, he was unable to play until 2006. Wesolowski made his debut in Cardiff City for Leicester City’s first team in January 2006, and he impressed again. After only five appearances against Brighton, Wesolowski broke his leg in February. He was able to return in time for the start 2006-07 season. However, he was unable to play due to a thigh injury that kept him from the team for the first month.

Wesolowski was born in Australia and is of Polish descent via his grandfather. After representing Australia in the FIFA World Youth Championship, Wesolowski was awarded international acclaim and was called “a star in making” by Australia’s Football Federation. Wesolowski, who was 19 years old at the time, was called up to the Australian national squad for the 2007 Asian Cup qualifier against Kuwait. However, he was removed from the squad days later following consultations with both sides’ medical staff. He was called up to the Australian national team on 6 November 2007 for a friendly against Nigeria, but was not used as Australia won 1-0.

Wesolowski lost his place in the first team the following season, playing just four cup matches. On 2 October 2008, he joined Cheltenham Town on a three- month loan deal, linking up with former Leicester manager Martin Allen and fellow loanee Barry Hayles, with the option of being recalled after the first month. His loan ended early after suffering a fractured ankle in a 2–0 away defeat to Tranmere Rovers in October. On 2 February 2009, Wesolowski joined Dundee United on loan for the remainder of the 2008–09 season, with the option of making the deal permanent. He made his debut in a 1–0 home defeat to Hearts, playing for 65 minutes before being substituted. After featuring in every match since arriving, Wesolowski suffered a hamstring injury in early May in a match against Hibernian, ending his season.
