He is an English late- night talk radio host. After numerous warnings and a history with OFCOM regulators, he presented The Late Night James Stannage talk show on Manchester’s Key 103. He was fired in June 2005. He hosts an online radio program.

Emap Radio Group, the owners of Key 103, was fined PS125,000 on 24 November 2005 after a listener submitted comments and jokes about Ken Bigley’s death (only two days after his death was confirmed).

During Stannage’s 20-year tenure at Key 103, formerly Piccadilly Radio, Key 103 was subject to several fines. One outburst cost PS15,000, and Stannage was also criticized for calling First World War soldiers “thick and ignorant”. In 2001, he was also questioned by police over claims that he had made a racist comment on his show. His jokes about the Morecambe Bay death of Chinese cocklepickers got him in trouble in May 2004.

As the station is based online, it is not subject to the same broadcast regulations as conventional radio stations. The station launched on 9 September 2007 at 9.00 pm. According to the site’s own figures, over 150,000 people viewed the site pre-launch. It later changed its website address to ManchesterRadio.Online.
