James Pyke is one of the most popular and richest Cricketer who was born on June 7, 1966 in Cottesloe, Western Australia, Australia. Pyke was born in Western Australia, but spent most of his childhood in North America. His father, Frank Pyke was a Perth footballer in the West Australian Football League. He was also an academic who moved to the United States with his wife and son in December 1966 to attend Indiana University. Pyke’s brother Don was born while he was in the United States. Don Pyke would play on two premiership sides for the West Coast Eagles. The family spent time in Normal (Illinois) and Halifax, Nova Scotia before returning to Australia in 1972.
Pyke, who had just been accepted into the South Australian cricket team’s cricket team, decided to continue playing cricket. He appeared in eight matches of the 1986/87 Shield season. He was also part of South Australia’s McDonald’s Cup-winning side and joined the team on a tour to New Zealand at the end. Pyke scored 177 runs off 159 balls in the second List A match against the Central Districts led by Ian Smith at Fitzherbert Park, Palmerston North. He also had five sixes. He beat his previous limit overs score, which was just 19, and set a new record for highest individual innings in a List A match. This record was maintained until 2007, when Matthew Hayden scored an undefeated 181 in a One Day International. This was the highest limit overs score achieved by a South Australian player until 2015.
Now playing in South Australia, Pyke played for the state’s Colts team until making his Sheffield Shield debut in February 1986. He won the Don Bradman Medal for his efforts at West Torrens in the 1985–86 season.
Pyke, who now works as a physiotherapist, played his last match for South Australia in 1988. He continued playing football with Norwood and in the 1989 Pre-season Draft was again recruited to the VFL, selected by Collingwood with the 25th selection. He never played a senior league game for Collingwood.
Pyke was part of the Australia Under-19 Cricket team that toured India and Sri Lanka in the 1984-85 season. As a top-order batsman and part time bowler, he played in three Tests against India and one more in Sri Lanka. Pyke was easily the best performer of the team during the “Tests”, scoring 544 runs at 136.00. Pyke was at six in the first innings against India’s Under-19s in Delhi and scored 201 runs. Pyke was the opening bat for Australia during the remainder of the tour and scored another century at Patna.

James Kendrick Pyke, born 7 June 1966, is an Australian former sportsman who played Australian rules football at a high-level and represented South Australia in Sheffield Shield cricket. Pyke competed for Norwood in South Australian National Football League (SANFL) and was twice drafted into the Victorian Football League. However, he never played a senior match.
Pyke was a player for the Australian Capital Territory in the 1980s. He played under-16, under-19 and senior cricket.
