Datuk Seri Utama Ir. Haji Idris bin Haron (born 13 May 1966 in Asahan, Melaka) is a Malaysian politician currently serving as the Malacca State Legislative Assemblyman in Sungai Udang. He is a part of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO) party within the Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition.

He was in charge of for the Big Island (Pulau Besar) reconstruction project that began with the supply of electricity for the Big Island involving 12 towers built from 4.7 miles from Siring Beach which will supply power at a rate of five megawatts up to an maximum capacity that is 132 megawatts. This project started on November 5, 2012 and was finished in February 2015, has the aim of creating 129.64 Hectares of Big Island and houses resorts and historical sites, which is one of the main tourist products in Melaka. The modernization the facilities of Sekolah Menengah Agama Dan Tahfiz Al-Quran Pulau-Besar Melaka is in progress to provide students with more confidence in memorizing the Koran. The plan is to build Pulau Besar as a tourism island within the state of. In March the first allocations were made to fix the food court and mosque in the area, as well as the building of the Maahad Tahfiz. In the 2013 election, Idris vacated his federal parliamentary seat to contest the seat of Sungai Udang in the Malacca State Legislative Assembly. The move was far from a demotion: it was carried out by the Barisan Nasional coalition to install him as the Chief Minister of Malacca, replacing Mohd Ali Rustam. The coalition retained its majority in the state assembly and Idris was sworn in as Malacca’s tenth Chief Minister.

Idris was the tenth Chief Minister of Melaka from 7 May 2013 to 10 May 2018. He was a member of the Parliament of Malaysia for Tangga Batu, Melaka from 2004 to 2013 and became a deputy minister in 2008. He left federal politics in 2013, winning election of the Malacca State Legislative Assembly for Sungai Udang seat and becoming the state’s chief minister.

Idris has been elected into the the federal parliament during the 2004 elections for the newly-created seat that was created in Tangga Batu. In the first year of his time in parliament, Idris made international news by voicing his displeasure that the clothes worn by stewardesses of Malaysia Airlines would result in male passengers sexually harassing staff members. After the elections of 2008, Idris was appointed a Vice Minister of Higher Education in the government of Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.
