Ian Robert Dawes, an English ex-professional footballer was born 22 February 1963 in Croydon, Surrey. He made more than 200 appearances in the Football League for Queens Park Rangers, Millwall and as a left back.
Later, he was a coach at Charlton Athletic, Millwall, before managing the non- league clubs Dorking and Carshalton Athletic. He also managed Redhill from 2002 to 2004, and October 2005 to October 2006.
Dawes quit QPR to play for Millwall in 1988, as QPR felt that his performances would be affected by the removal of Loftus Road’s “plastic pitch”. However, he played 258 games for Millwall and was named their Player of Year in 1989-90. He then moved to non-League Bromley following a knee operation from which he never fully recovered.
