Hyung Jin Moon is one of the most popular and richest Religious Leader who was born on September 26, 1979 in Tarrytown, New York, United States. Moon was born in Tarrytown (New York) on September 26, 1979. Moon is the youngest of the three sons of Reverend Sun Myung Moon (the founder of the Unification movement). From high school, he attended Hackley School. Harvard University awarded him a bachelor of liberal arts degree and a master of theology degree. He met Bub Jang (leader of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism) at the Harvard Center for the Study of World Religions and began to study Buddhism. He was also a Buddhist practitioner and lived for a while in a Roman Catholic monastery.

After Sun Myung Moon’s death in 2012, Hyung Jin Moon and Hyung Jin Moon began to have open disagreements with his mother. His mother removed him from several positions starting in 2013 and finally made him the International President of Family Federation for World Peace. He was then replaced by Sung Jin Moon.

Hyung Jin Moon’s church, World Peace and Unification Sanctuary Church in Newfoundland, Pennsylvania, gained national attention in early 2018 for holding a marriage vows renewal ceremony that asked participants to bring their AR-15 rifles. Hyung Jin Moon has likened the AR-15’s to the biblical “rod of iron”. Neighbors of the church came out to protest the insensitivity of having the AR-15 rifles at the event so soon after the Parkland, Florida, shooting that killed 17. To address concerns voiced by parents of an elementary school nearby, the Wallenpaupack Area School District relocated students for the day. The Southern Poverty Law Center called Moon an “[a]nti- LGBT cult leader” in an article it published in January 2018 that explored the church’s doctrine and leadership and upcoming ceremony with guns.

In October 2019, members of the World Peace and Unification Sanctuary were invited to “show their willingness to defend their families, communities and nation” by bringing their semi-auto rifles to a service in which their weapons were blessed.

Hyung Jin Moon visited North Korea in 2011 to offer condolences for the loss of Kim Jong Il. De jure President Kim Yong Nam hosted Hyung Jin Moon at his official residence in Pyongyang in 2011 to commemorate the 20th anniversary Sun Myung Moon’s historic visit to North Korea. He donated 600 tons flour to North Korean children in North Pyongan Province (the birthplace of Sun Myung Moon). He also donated $1.7million to the Japanese Red Cross after the 2011 Tohoku earthquake, tsunami.
