Cuypers was a permanent starter during his first season at the Cretans. He made an immediate impact on the club by scoring three goals in four matches of 2017-18 Greek Football League. These were a 1-1 draw vs. AO. Chania Kissamikos, a 2-1 loss vs. Panachaiki, and a 2-3 loss vs. Aris. Cuypers was the club’s most prolific and consistent player, scoring goals regularly and “victimizing” 14 of 16 opposition Ergotelis faced during the season, despite Ergotelis’ poor start and struggle to avoid relegation. On 21 January 2018, Cuypers had his first two-goal performance against Veria. This feat was repeated on 1 April, when he faced Panegialios, another relegation candidate, in a decisive home win of 5-1 for the Cretans. Cuypers had scored 11 goals in 16 matches by the end of the first round. By match-day 27, he had scored 20 goals, nearly ensuring that his club would remain in the division. Cuypers became the first Ergotelis player to score more than 20 goals in a single season, in 12 years. This feat earned Cuypers a place in the club’s all-time top scorers list in the Greek professional division. Cuypers’ fourth brace of the season was scored in the 5-1 home victory against Aiginiakos on 20 May
- This result cemented Cuypers’ team’s position above the relegation zone. Cuypers, who scored 22 goals in 28 caps, became the most productive club player in competition history, surpassing Patrick Ogunsoto, Ergotelis’ all time scoring legend,’s 21-goal season in 2006. Cuypers’ performances drew attention to several top-tier Greek clubs, including newly-crowned Superleague champions AEK athens. They reportedly made a EUR380,000 offer for the player and offered two of their players on loan to Cretans. Despite reports that the two teams had reached a deal, the transfer was canceled after Cuypers and manager Jacques Lichtenstein made statements to the Belgian media. The statement alleged that Jacques Lichtenstein did not respect Cuypers’ wishes to transfer the player to AEK. He did not report to Ergotelis’ 2018-19 Pre-season Training and thus effectively left the team.
On 17 August 2019, Cuypers joined AC Ajaccio on loan.
Cuypers’ impressed in his first season with Les Rouches’ U-19 team, scoring 31 goals and assisting 13 others. Cuypers’ 2 additional goals at Standard Liege U-21 drew the attention of many European top clubs. Cuypers signed a two-year contract extension with Standard Liege in June 2015. He made his professional debut as a substitute for Renaud Emmond in the play-off II home game against WaaslandBeveren on March 3, 2016.
