In 1991, he began playing on the Nike Tour and in 1993, he won his first title at the Nike South Carolina Classic in Florence. He won the Nike Texarkana Open in Texarkana, Arkansas later that year. He won the Nike Permian Basin Open and the Nike Dominion Open in 1995. Royer was awarded his PGA Tour card in 1995 and he kept it until 1998. He finished in the top 10 for four times. Before retiring, he competed in the Nationwide Tour 1999 and 2000.
