Hisashi Kato is one of the most popular and richest Association Football Player who was born on April 24, 1956 in Rifu, Miyagi Prefecture, Japan. Kato was born April 24, 1956 in Rifu, Miyagi. After a year of studying at Waseda University in Japan, Kato joined Yomiuri, later Verdy Kawasaki, in 1980. The club was crowned champions in Japan Soccer League five times, JSL Cup two times, and Emperor’s Cup three times. This was a golden era in club history. Japan Soccer League was dissolved in 1992 and a new league, J1 League, was created. The club won the 1992 J.League Cup. He played in the opening match of J1 League’s 1993 season. However, he was not allowed to continue playing. In July, he moved to Shimizu S-Pulse. He returned to Verdy Kawasaki in July 1994. The club won J1 League, and he retired at the end of the 1994 season. He was 38 years of age. He participated in 243 games and scored 11 goals. He was named Best Eleven nine times.
Kato was inducted into the Japan Football Hall of Fame in 2018.
Kato retired in 1997 and became the manager of Verdy Kawasaki. He resigned in July. He signed with Shonan Bellmare, a J2 League club in 2000. He was fired after the club finished eighth in 2000. He signed with Kyoto Sanga FC J2 in 2007 and was made general manager. He fired Naohiko Minobe, and Kato was appointed new manager in October. He was the club’s 3rd-placer in 2007, and was promoted to J1 League. He was fired in July 2010.

Hisashi Kato (Jia Teng Jiu, Kato Hisashi) is a former Japanese manager and football player. He was a former player for the Japan national football team.
Kato, then a student at Waseda University, made his debut for Japan’s national team against the Soviet Union on November 19, 1978. He was a member of the 1978 and 1982 Asian Games. He was the 1984 Summer Olympics qualifier captain, 1986 World Cup qualification qualification, and 1986 Asian Games qualification. He retired from the national team in 1987 after Japan failed to qualify for the 1988 Olympics. He played 61 games for Japan and scored 6 goals between 1987-87.
