Hiromichi (Shi Mao Hong Dian – born September 22, 1956 in Asahi in Chiba) was a Japanese professional baseball player who is now a manager for Japan’s Nippon Professional Baseball. He spent most of his time with the Seibu Lions.

Although he stole only 11 bases in 14 attempts in 1985, Ishige was still a powerful offensive force. He hit a.280/.386/.508 batting average with 96 runs and 27 homers, as well as 88 walks. He led the league with 26 doubles and won another Gold Glove. Hiromichi was a loser in the 1985 Japan Series. The Lotte Orions drafted Ishige in the third round, 1974 NPB draft. He went on to college instead. He was awarded the Tokyo Metropolitan University League batting title, and he made six college Best Nines. The Seibu Lions then selected him in the first round 1980 NPB draft.

As a rookie with Seibu, Ishige was named to the All-Star team and would continue making it for all 14 seasons. In his first year, he hit.311/.380/.531 with 21 homers. He set a Nippon Pro Baseball record by leading off eight games with home runs and set a Seibu club record with a 23-game hitting streak. He hit .297/.297/.405 as Seibu won a hard-fought 1986 Japan Series over the Hiroshima Carp.

Leaving Seibu after 14 All-Star seasons and 8 titles in 14 years, Ishige moved on to the Fukuoka Daiei Hawks, where the 38-year-old hit .200/.260/.275 to signal that his glory days were definitely gone.
