Herbert Schildt is one of the most popular and richest Computer Scientist who was born on February 28, 1951 in Chicago, Illinois, United States. Schildt was a computer scientist and the original multi- keyboardist of progressive rock band Starcastle. He appeared on every album of the band’s albums from 1976-1978. His distinctive style features extensive use of Oberheim analog sequencingrs to create ethereal sounds of sound colors. This was a groundbreaking technique in the predigital synthesizer era. The band also features him on their 2007 album, “Song of Times”.
The Art of C++ by Schildt also features an interpreter for Mini-C++. Mini-C++ doesn’t support the keyword “class”, although it has minimal artificial support for cin or cout. A BASIC interpreter named Small BASIC is available in Turbo C: The Complete Reference. It was written in C. Another one is found in The Art of Java 2003 written in Java.
He holds both a graduate and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Schildt claims he was a member the ANSI/ISO committees which standardized the C language in 1989 and then the ANSI/ISO Committees that updated the standard in 1999. He also standardized C++ 1998. His presence on the ANSI C committee has been questioned by other members.

Schildt is the author of books on DOS, C++, C#, and other computer languages. His first books were published in 1985 and 1986. (The cover of Advanced Modula-2, 1987, states that it is his sixth book. Osborne was an early publisher of computer books that specialized in titles for personal computers. McGraw-Hill acquired Osborne, and the imprint continued to publish Schildt’s books until it was completely absorbed into the larger company.
The Little C interpreter is one of Schildt’s most beloved projects. It is a long example of a handwritten recursive descent parser that interprets a subset C language. In August 1989, Dr. Dobb published the program in his Journal entitled “Building your C interpreter”. This example was published in Born to Code In C (Osborne 1989), The Craft of C (1992) and in a later edition of C. The Complete Reference.
