He was nicknamed El Pato (The Duck), and/or Kwinto Quinteros during his youth playing for top Peruvian team Alianza Lima. In 1997, Quinteros began his professional career with Segunda Division Peruana side Bella Esperanza. Quinteros was back at Alianza in 1997 and made his Torneo Descentralizado debut during the 1998 season. Quinteros remained with Alianza for five more years, where he was an important player. He moved to Sporting Cristal in 2003 to continue his career as one of the best players in Peru.

Quinteros was born in Lima, the son of Julio Ignacio Quinteros Surco († 2011).
