Henry Ellard is one of the most popular and richest American Football Player who was born on July 21, 1961 in Fresno, California, United States. Henry Austin Ellard, born July 21, 1961, is an American football wide receiver. He played for the Los Angeles Rams (1993-1993), Washington Redskins (1994-1998), and the New England Patriots(1998) of the National Football League. Ellard qualified for the 1992 Olympic Trials in triple jump. However, he suffered a hamstring injury during the Trials. He did not make it to the team.

Ellard joined the Redskins in 1994 and set a record for the 1994 season. He finished the season with 1,397 yards, just 102 shy of league leader Jerry Rice. Ellard had three consecutive 1,000-yard seasons, making it seven in his career. His 799 yards in strike-shortened 1987 was good for an eighth. He reached 1,000 yards in his final season in 1996, when he had to perform a 155 yard performance against Dallas Cowboys’ second-ranked defense.

After his retirement, Ellard became an assistant coach at Southern California Christian High School, then became an assistant track-and-field coach at Villa Park High School. In 2000, he was a coach at Fresno State before taking the receivers coaching job for the St. Louis Rams in 2001. On January 25, 2009 Ellard came to the New York Jets as the wide receivers coach. He was named the wide receivers coach for the New Orleans Saints on March 14, 2012, and spent three seasons with the club before leaving after the 2014 season. He now is the head football coach at San Antonio Christian High School. The most notable players he coached were Torry Holt, Issac Bruce, Parker Johnson, Alex King, Austin Hotchkiss, Brandon Trevino, andDrew Brees.

The Los Angeles Rams drafted Ellard in the 32nd round of the 1983 NFL Draft. He was drafted in the 32nd round of the 1983 NFL Draft by Los Angeles Rams. Ellard went to three Pro Bowls during his 11 seasons in Los Angeles. He was first selected in 1984 as a punt returner, and then in 1988 as a wide receiver. Ellard was the Rams’ record holder for receiving yards (593), career receptions (9,761) and 100-yard games (26) at the time of his retirement. He also held records for punt return average (11.3) and total offense (11,663).

Ellard attended Hoover High School, Fresno. In 1979, he won the CIF California State Championships triple jump. From 1979 to 1982, Ellard attended Fresno State University. He set an NCAA record of 1,510 receiving yards during his final season. Ellard holds the Fresno State record for the third-highest number of touchdown catches (35) and fifth for receiving yards (2947) respectively. He also holds the 11th highest number of receptions (138).

He also gained 1,527 yards returning punts, 364 yard returning kickoffs, 50 rushing yards, and 4 punts returned for a touchdown. Overall, he gained 15,718 total yards.
