Helen Boaden is one of the most popular and richest Journalist who was born on March 1, 1956 in Colchester, United Kingdom. Boaden was born in Colchester, Essex on the 1st of March 1956. Her father was an FE lecturer and later worked as a teacher union. She claims that she is from a family where there was a lot of shouting, plates flying through the air, and a lot of plate whizzing around.
Boaden won the Sony Awards for a program on AIDS in Africa and bullying in Feltham Young Offenders Institution. File on 4 Radio 4 was awarded the Gold Award as Station of the Year for 2003 and 2004. Boaden was awarded by the Industrial Society in 1990 for her work regarding safety standards in oil industry. She holds honorary degrees from Suffolk College and the University of Sussex. She serves on the Sony Radio Academy’s committee. She was named one of the 100 most influential women in the United Kingdom by Woman’s Hour, BBC Radio 4.
In December 2012, Boaden was asked to temporarily step down from her position as the Director of BBC News while the BBC awaited the results of Operation Yewtree, a wide-ranging police investigation of sexual abuse, primarily of children, by former BBC presenter Jimmy Savile (who died in 2011) and others. A second and parallel investigation, launched by the BBC into possible management failings at the Corporation, called the Pollard Report after the lead investigator, Nick Pollard (a former senior executive at Sky News), criticised the BBC and several executive members for continuing with plans to celebrate Savile’s life, despite apparently having received advanced information that Savile was being investigated for multiple cases of sexual abuse. The report explicitly criticised Boaden for having handled the matter too casually. Boaden returned to her position later the same month.
In February 2013, Boaden was appointed director of radio by incoming director- general Tony Hall. This was widely seen as a demotion. After a period with Fran Unsworth in her former post, James Harding became Director of BBC News later in 2013. Boaden resigned from the BBC in September 2016.
Boaden said that school was a “great relief from her home life” because it was orderly and calm. She attended Rushmere junior high school, Northgate Grammar School (now Northgate High School), in the county of Ipswich, Suffolk. Cedars Grammar School (now Cedars Upper School), in Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire, was her next stop. The University of Sussex gave her a BA Honours degree in English Literature, and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania where she received an MBA in 1999.
