Ghasia completed her secondary school education at Ndanda Secondary in 1989. In 1995, she received her advanced diploma from Institute of Development Management – Mzumbe. In 2003, she received her master’s degree at the Sokoine University of Agriculture. Between 1992 and 2005, she worked as an economic planner for the Mtwara district council and the Maasai town council.
Ghasia won the 2015 parliamentary election by a narrow margin, defeating Suleiman Fadhili (ChADEMA) by 24,258 votes to 22,615 votes. The petitioners alleged irregularities in voting and fraud and challenged Ghasia’s election. The application was filed too late and the case was dismissed.
In 2006, she was elected as the Minister of State at the President’s Office for Public Service and Management. She served this position until 2012. She was a Minister in Prime Minister’s Office for Regional Administration and Local Government between 2012 and 2015.
