Hassan Mustafa Osama Nasr is one of the most popular and richest Imam who was born on March 18, 1963 in Alexandria, Egypt. Robert Seldon Lady was the former chief of Milan CIA stations. He was sentenced to eight years in prison. USAF Lieutenant Colonel Joseph L. Romano was convicted as commander of the 37th Training Group, 37th Training Wing. 21 American defendants were sentenced to five years in prison. The convicted received 1 million Euros each to Nasr, and 500,000 Euros each to Nasr’s spouse.

While his house arrest was being reduced to house arrest in April 2004, Nasr made several calls from Egypt to his loved ones and family. He claimed that he was being held at Tora Prison in Egypt, which is twenty miles south from Cairo by the Egyptian SSI. He claimed he was subject to numerous depredations and torture, including beatings and electric shocks to his genitals. He was also raped and had eventually lost one of his ears. He was released by an Egyptian judge on the basis of insufficient evidence at the time of the calls. He was quickly re-arrested after the calls were made and reincarcerated.

On 4 November 2009, an Italian judge convicted in absentia 22 CIA agents, a U.S. Air Force (USAF) colonel and two Italian secret agents of the kidnap. Eight other American and Italian defendants were acquitted.

In 2010, leaked diplomatic documents revealed the efforts the United States used in an attempt to stop Italy from indicting the CIA agents, and that Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi assured US Secretary of Defense Robert Gates that he was “working hard to resolve the situation” but that the Italy’s judicial system was “dominated by leftists”.

As he walked to the mosque in Milan for noon prayer, CIA agents took Nasr. This made him a ghost detainee. Later, he was taken to Egypt and tortured.

On 11 February 2007, Nasr’s lawyer Montasser el-Zayat confirmed that his client had been released and was now back with his family. After four years of detention, an Egyptian court ruled that his imprisonment was “unfounded.”
