Hashim Ridha is one of the most popular and richest Association Football Player who was born on May 18, 1979 in Karbala, Karbala Governorate, Iraq. Hashim Ridha Mohammad Alwan (Arabic hshmrD mHmdlwn, born May 18, 1979, Karbala, Iraq), is an ex-footballer from Iraq and former manager for Al-Shorta. Al-Shorta fans nicknamed him “The Rocket” when he was a football player.
He said he would continue his role as an administrative director through the 2014-15 season. He also became the team supervisor for that season. After Radhi Shenaishil’s resignation, he was appointed assistant manager and later became manager.
Hashim Ridha was a natural goalcorer and was deadly at the six-yard box. Karbala FC was where he started his football career. In 1993, he joined the Karbala junior football team. He moved to Al-Shorta in 1998. He was the joint top scorer for the 1998/99 season with 19 goals. He also won the best striker award and the best young player award. He also scored 14 goals during the 1998/99 Iraq FA Cup. This is the record for most goals a player has scored at a single tournament in Iraq FA Cup. After losing 5-0 to Jordan in the International Friendly Tournament, Hashim was part of the Iraqi Olympic Team that did not qualify for the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney. This happened just days after defeating the same team 4-2. Najih Humoud gave Hashim his first call-up to the national team. He was also called up by Milan Zivadinovic to the 2000 Asian Cup squad. However, Hashim missed out on a spot in Lebanon after his Olympic disappointments. After loan spells at Al-Zawraa, and Al- Talaba, Hashim scored 32 goals for Al-Shorta in the 2001/02 season. He also finished as the top scorer in the Iraqi Premier League, his second career title. Al-Shorta won three Umm Al Maarek Cups (Mother of All Battles Cups) in succession, but a recurring injury prevented him from playing. In 2002/03, he moved to Al-Shamal, a Qatari professional club. In that season, he scored seven goals for them, which was the third most in the league. When he was a player in the 2004 Algomhuria International Cup, he was a top performer and Al-Shorta placed 4th in that tournament. In 2006, he left the club to join Karbala FC in his hometown. He scored three goals during the 2006/07 season. In 2007/08, he returned to Al-Shorta, scoring three more goals, before moving back to Karbala in 2009. In the 2009/10 season, he scored six goals for Karbalaa and was then promoted to Al-Shorta as the club’s captain. In that season, he scored one goal against Ramadi FC. Then he made his final career move and returned to Karbala for the fourth consecutive time. He added two more goals to his career goals for the 2011/12 season and decided to retire at

Hashim played his first match for Iraq against Oman on January 11, 2002 in a friendly match. His country won the match 2-0 after he scored in the fourth minute. Two days later, he won his second and last cap for Iraq in a 3-1 victory against Qatar. He did not make any further appearances for Iraq and stated that this was due to the fact that coaches used to choose players closest to them’ as well as an injury that limited his chances of playing for Iraq.
