Harry Tincknell, born 29 October 1991 in Exeter (Devon), is a British racing driver. He currently races in the FIA WEC with Ford Chip Ganassi Racing Team UK. This includes the Le Mans 24 Hours. After a long and successful career as a single-seater driver, he won the LM P2 category on his Le Mans 24 Hour race debut in 2014. He also won the 2016 European Le Mans Series title.
Tincknell was invited to join the British Racing Drivers Club Rising Stars program at the beginning of 2010. Tincknell was also selected by the UK’s motorsport governing organization, the Motor Sports Association, as one of ten drivers to participate in the driver development program, Team UK. Each member of the team was considered to be among the top 10 most promising young racers in the UK. They received in-car performance, nutrition and fitness training, as well as advanced psychology under the Brabham Performance clinic, which was created by David Brabham.
Tincknell continued in the series in 2010, leading a four-car challenge from CRS Racing. Tincknell was also confirmed as one of ten drivers selected by the UK’s motorsport governing body, the Motor Sports Association, to take part in its driver development programme, Team UK. Considered to be the top 10 most promising young racing drivers in the UK, each member of the team received in- car performance, fitness and nutrition training as well as advanced sports psychology, care of the Brabham Performance Clinic, created by David Brabham.
After the end of the 2011 season Tincknell signed for multiple British F3 Champion team Carlin. After impressing in initial testing Tincknell suffered a freak accident at the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium, breaking his right hand severely which needed to be operated on back in the UK. This put him out of action for the rest of the year.
Tincknell joined the Formula Renault UK Winter Series 2008, and finished seventh. He also had points-scoring finishes at each of the four races. Tincknell also competed in two races of Formula Junior Portugal Winter Series. He finished in sixth and eighth during the races in Estoril. Tincknell continued to race in Formula Renault UK with CRS Racing in 2009, where he was the first to set the pole position. Tincknell started well and he took the Brands Hatch pole position before finishing second to Oliver Webb in his first race. Tincknell was fifth in the championship standings with five podiums at Oulton Park, Thruxton and Rockingham. He was also awarded the Graduate Cup title. This is where first-year drivers compete for honours. The best fifteen finishes of each driver count towards the championship. Tincknell won two of the four races in the Winter Series and finished each one on the podium. Tincknell also competed in the Formula Renault 2.0 Northern European Cup, finishing seventeenth in both races.

Tincknell’s karting debut was in 2001. He finished in the top five in both the Dunkeswell Club Championship as well as the South West British Championship series. Tincknell began his career in Cadets, and in 2002 he moved to TKM karts. He won the Winter Series at Shenington kart track in Oxfordshire in 2003. In 2004, he continued to compete at this level, winning round at Larkhall. He finished 27th in the Connaught Racing championship. Tincknell was promoted to the ICA Junior Belgian Championship 2005 and placed fifth, 65 points behind Laurens Vanthoor, in the championship.
Tincknell remained at ICA Junior for the 2006 season and competed in the WSK International Series. Tincknell finished 14th in the championship despite finishing third at La Conca, Italy. Tincknell participated in eight championships and trophy races in 2007 as part of a variety series. He finished fourth in the South Garda Winter Cup. This was behind Robin Frijns, Antonio Felix da Costa, and Yannick de Brabander. Tincknell finished the Euro Rotax Max Challenge as runner up in 2008, his last season of karting.
Tincknell started the 2010 season off well with 5 podiums and a 1 win in the first 8 races of the season at Thruxton, Rockingham, Brands Hatch and Oulton Park. After a difficult weekend at the Croft circuit, he bounced back to take a pole position and victory at Snetterton breaking the lap record which still stands on the way to the win. However, the final 4 rounds of the season proved a struggle for the team with the new Formula Renault car and Tincknell managed one more podium and 3 top five places to eventually finish 5th overall in the championship.
