Harry Dennis is one of the most popular and richest Singer-Songwriter who was born on December 17, 1956 in Chicago, Illinois, United States. Harry Dennis (sometimes spelled Harri), is a Chicago-based producer and lyricist of house music. He was part of the original generation that created house music in the 1970s and 1980s.

Fingers Inc. was formed in 1988 by Dennis, Heard and Owens. It released “Distant Planet” as a single with Dennis singing and writing the lyrics. The Indigo Music/Jack Trax label released the single. Dennis was also a vocalist and lyricist on “Gallimaufry Galerie”, which was released on the Black Market International label. Dennis also wrote other house tracks with Larry Heard between 1990 and 1991. The Big Life Records label released an album in London featuring “In This Place Called Nowhere”, the “Brazilian Love Dance”, the “Brazilian Love Dance Interlude” and “Endless Journey”. In 1993, Dennis and Marshall Jefferson collaborated again to release “Bird In a Gilded Cage”, which was released on Trax.

Dennis’ business affiliations include house music executives such as Marshall Jefferson, Chauncey Alexander, and David Dee of Openhouse Recordings. Dennis and Jefferson released a new album on Openhouse in June 2011 entitled Jungle Wonz: The Jungle Sky EP, produced by Marshall Jefferson. This album included an updated version of the original “The Jungle” recording, along with several renditions of a new single, “Kiss the Sky”, written by Dennis, McClain and Jefferson.

Following the 2012 release of his album, The Jungle Wonz: Deliverance, Dennis was featured on Chicago’s Black Business Network, interviewed by founder and host, Sonja Perdue.

Marshall Jefferson recruited Dennis to Trax Records in 1986-1989. They formed the group Jungle Wonz together, recording the house hit “Time Marches On”, and “Jungle”.

Dennis is a Chicago native who attended Chicago Public Schools (CPS) for his elementary and high school educations. He was a student at Illinois State University (ISU) and began to be interested in songwriting, lyric writing and drama. Dennis graduated from ISU in 1982 and returned to Chicago to start his music career. He was a frequent party-goer and met Robert Williams, the owner of The Warehouse, a local nightclub catering to house music fans. This is where Dennis made friends with Ron Hardy and DJ Frankie Knuckles. These connections led to Dennis becoming a lyricist on the house music scene.

Dennis’ recording career began in 1983 with the release of “Donnie” in 1985. He founded The It in 1985 with Robert Owens and Larry Heard. “Donnie” was first released in Chicago’s underground scene in 1985 (with Chip E. as the producer). It quickly spread to the east coast and was then distributed worldwide by DJ International, 1986.

Dennis returned from a sabbatical in 2005 with new material.
