Han-na Chang is one of the most popular and richest Conductor who was born on December 23, 1982 in Suwon, Gyeonggi, South Korea. Han-Na Chang is a South Korean cellist and conductor (Korean pronunciation: janghanna; born December 23, 1982).

Chang was the first guest conductor of the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra. She did so in June 2012. The orchestra appointed her as its next music director in December 2012. On 7 September 2014, she led the orchestra’s first appearance at The Proms. On the next day, August 8, 2014, Chang, who was music director of the orchestra, resigned immediately citing “persistent administrative problems and irreconcilable art differences with the management”.

As of the 2013-2014 season, Chang was appointed principal guest conductor for the Trondheim Symphony Orchestra. The orchestra appointed Chang its next chief conductor in March 2016. This appointment was effective for the 2017-2018 season. Chang is the Trondheim Symphony Orchestra’s first female chief conductor. The orchestra announced in November 2018 that Chang was to continue as chief conductor of the Trondheim Symphony Orchestra through the 2022-2023 seasons.

Chang was born in Suwon (Gyeonggi-do), South Korea. She began piano lessons at age 3 and started studying cello at 6. Her family moved to America in 1993. She was enrolled at the Juilliard School’s pre-college division. She attended Mischa Maisky’s masterclasses in Siena (Italy) in 1993 and continued private study with him. She competed in the Fifth Rostropovich International Cello Competition and won both the First Prize and the Contemporary Music Prize. Mstislav Rostropovich taught Chang privately. In 1995, Chang recorded her first recording of Tchaikovsky’s Variations on a Rococo Theme as well as Saint-Saens’ Cello Concerto No. 1) Rostropovich conducting London Symphony Orchestra. Chang studied philosophy at Harvard University in addition to his Juilliard studies.

Chang became interested in conducting after she studied with James DePreist. In 2007, she made her professional conductor debut in Korea. She founded the Absolute Festival in Gyeonggi Province, Korea in 2009 and is its artistic director. Chang made her UK conductor debut in January 2012 with the Philharmonia Orchestra. She then conducted the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic in February 2012. Chang has now switched her musical focus from cello performances to conducting.
