Hadden Irving Clark, born July 31, 1952, is an American serial killer and murderer. He currently serves two 30-year sentences at Eastern Correctional Institution (Maryland) for the murders in 1986 of Michelle Dorr (6 years old) and 1992 murder of Laura Houghteling (23 years). A 10-year sentence was also handed to him for robbery, after he stole from his former landlord.

After discovering that he lived two houses below Michelle’s father, police began to investigate him for Michelle Dorr’s murder. Later, police tested the house of his brother for blood and found Michelle’s blood in an upstairs bedroom’s wooden floorboards. Clark led police to her body in January 2000.

On December 15, 2000, he led police to his grandparents’ old property. There they found a plastic bucket containing over 200 pieces. The items included Laura Houghteling’s high school class rings. Clark claimed they were “trophies” taken by his victims.

Clark was ordered to leave his Silver Spring, Maryland, home by his brother on May 31, 1986. Michelle Dorr was a six year-old niece of Clark’s and came to look for her. Clark took Michelle up to an upstairs bedroom and stabbed her to death. Clark then took some of Michelle’s blood and put it in a bag. Clark buried her 12 miles away in a park.

He killed Laura Houghteling, 23, in Bethesda (Maryland) on October 18, 1992. Clark was a gardener for Laura and Penny. Hadden had accused Clark of stealing tools from her backyard shed. Clark entered the house via the back door. He stabbed Laura with a kitchen knife in her bedroom and then suffocated him with a pillow. Clark carried her body through the woods in a bedsheet and buried it half a mile away.

Clark has confessed to murdering dozens of people starting as a teenager. In 2004, Clark sent a letter claiming he had killed an unidentified woman in Cape Cod, Massachusetts in 1974 known as Lady of the Dunes. Clark explained that he had buried evidence from the crime in his grandfather’s garden and that he knew the woman’s identity but was not going to tell authorities because he claimed they mistreated him. Because he suffers from paranoid schizophrenia, police doubt this confession.
