She is also known as Gwenno. She is a solo performer, having released her first album Y Dydd Olaf in 2015 on Heavenly Recordings. In 2018, she released Le Kov, her first album in Cornish. Gwenno Saunders was also a member of the indie-pop group, the Pipettes.
Gwenno toured in 2012 as a synth player for Pnau and Elton John.
She released her first solo full-length album, the Welsh-language Y Dydd Olaf, in October 2014 on Peski Records. In May 2015 Gwenno was signed to Heavenly Recordings. The label re-released her debut album in July. The album won Best Welsh Album at the 2015 National Eisteddfod and in November 2015 won the 2014–2015 Welsh Music Prize.
Gwenno also currently co-produces and co-hosts a Welsh radio show on Cardiff Radio titled “Cam O’r Tywyllwch” (“A Step Away from the Darkness”) with her Peski Records colleagues. The team was also behind the CAM ’15 music festival in Cardiff, which took place in April 2015 and featured the first live performance in over 20 years by Welsh music post-punk pioneers Datblygu.
Saunders released a five song EP in Welsh, Ymbelydredd (June 2012), available on cassettes hand-painted by Peski Records.

Before joining the Pipettes, she was a solo electropop singer in Welsh and Cornish, and had released two EPs, Mor Hud (2002 and Vodya (2004). Saunders, who represented Cornwall in the Liet International song contest 2003, won the People’s Choice Award with her performance of “Vodya”. Gwenno filmed “Ysolt y’nn Gweinten”, a Celtic Legend song, for Classic FM TV in December 2004. It is believed to be the first Cornish-language video, with the text written by Tim Saunders and music by Chris John Payne (ex Gary Numan keyboard player).
Gwenno joined Pipettes in April 2005, after Julia had left. Her lead vocals are most prominent on “Pull Shapes” as well as the chorus to “Your Kisses Are Wasted on Me”. In October 2007, she made a free download of a mini-album titled U & I. Gwenno’s younger brother Ani joined the Pipettes in April 2008 after the departures of Rosay and RiotBecki. Ani also records music now with The Lovely Wars, and solo under the name Ani Glas.
Gwenno appears on The Boy Least Likely To’s 2013 album The Great Perhaps, contributing vocals to the track “It Could Have Been Me”.
