Guy Branum (born November 12 1975) is an American comedian actor, writer, and writer most well-known as the head writer for the sketch show on X-Play which is a show on the G4 network as well as regularly appearing in Chelsea Lately on the E! network. He hosts the show Pop Rocket on the Maximum Fun network. He also is also the host of the TruTV Talk Show the Game Show.

Branum released his debut comedy album, Effable, in 2015 on ASpecialThing Records.

He was the host and executive producer of Talk Show The Game Show on TruTV, which was canceled in November 2018.

He was the regular host of Pop Rocket, a podcast that dissects popular culture, on the Maximum Fun network, which was cancelled in May 2019.

After being suggested to the cohost, Laura Swisher, Branum was employed as a writer on Unscrewed alongside Martin Sargent while it was being telecast on TechTV at San Francisco. On Unscrewed Branum was often seen as a model in a sweater and also as The ambassador of Gay. He was also a journalist and producer at G4tv.com as well as the head writer for the G4 channel show X-Play. Branum also participated in comedian podcast Weezy and the Swish. From December 2007 Branum began his career as a journalist as well as a comedy actor in the show Chelsea Lately. Branum made his debut as a feature film in January 2011 with the film No Strings Attached. In 2012, Branum was a writer on the series Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell, performing a regular segment titled “No more Mr. Nice Gay.” Branum was a guest on the eighth episode of Last Comic Standing. The year was 2017. Branum was a performer at the first Portland Queer Comedy Festival.

Branum was born in and was raised within Yuba City, California to the Protestant father and Jewish mother. He was a student at his time at the University of California, Berkeley from 1994 to 1998 where he was a historian and political science scholar. He wrote a column in The Daily Californian, one of which was a call from an agent from the United States Secret Service to his residence in November 1997 prior to the Big Game between Berkeley and Stanford University where it was reported that the Associated Press misquoted parts of his piece, suggesting that he suggested that Berkeley students would kill Stanford sophomore Chelsea Clinton.

Then he relocated to Minnesota and attended his first University of Minnesota Law School and was a member of their Quiz Bowl team that placed third at the CBI Nationals 1999. In law school, he was able to come out of his closet. After graduation, he moved back to California.

His book My Life As A Goddess: A Memoir Through (Un)Popular Culture was published in 2018 with a foreword by Mindy Kaling.
