Gus Caesar is one of the most popular and richest Association Football Player who was born on March 5, 1966 in Tottenham, United Kingdom. Gus Cassius Caesar (born 5 March 1966) is a famous English former professional footballer.
Then, Caesar’s time as a player at Arsenal was effectively ended. George Graham signed Steve Bould (and later Andy Linighan) as well as Andy Linighan. Caesar only played five games for the team in the span of two seasons. Caesar was part of the Arsenal team which won the former First Division in 1989 but only took part in two games which was not enough to be awarded an award. He became so unpopular among Arsenal supporters that a few were booed by them when he took to the field. Even now, he’s still considered by many to be one of the club’s most unpopular players. In 2007, He was voted the 3rd position within The Times poll of the 50 footballers who are the worst within the English top flight. He was also named the worst player to ever be a part of Arsenal by the magazine The Gooner.
Having played 50 matches for Arsenal in five years, Caesar left the Gunners in June 1991 on a free transfer (having previously been on loan to Queens Park Rangers for several months). He then embarked on a journeyman’s career mostly in the lower divisions of English football, playing for Cambridge United, Bristol City, Airdrieonians (where he played in the 1992 Scottish Cup Final) and Colchester United.
Arsenal fan Nick Hornby in his 1992 book Fever Pitch muses on Caesar’s downfall, pointing out that Caesar had considerable talent as a youth (or else Arsenal would have never signed him in the first place). Likening it to his own frustrations as a (then) failed writer, Hornby concluded that talent and determination alone were not enough to bring about success:
The 1988 Football League Cup Final against Luton Town at Wembley, Arsenal were ahead 2-1 with just seven minutes remaining when Caesar missed a clearance from his own penalty area which allowed Luton’s Danny Wilson to bundle the ball into the chaos. Luton was able to score the winner in the final minute, and Arsenal fell by a score of 3-2. Caesar was chosen as a substitute by George Graham to play in the final due to the fact that David O’Leary was unavailable due to an injury, later revealed that he was suffering from ankle and hernia injuries at the time however he was determined to go on regardless.

born in Tottenham, London, Caesar was signed by Arsenal in August 1982before becoming a professional in February 1984. Even though he injured his ankle early in the course of his professional career Caesar demonstrated a lot potential when he played for the Gunners youth team, as a defensive defender who could play either at fullback or, more often, in the middle of the defense. His Arsenal debut came during an away match against Manchester United at Old Trafford on the 21st December of 1985 to replace the suspended Viv Anderson. Arsenal maintained a clean sheet and Caesar performed a spirited performance in the game, marking United forward Jesper Olsen, in a game Arsenal won 1-0.
Caesar was a part-time player at Arsenal throughout the following 18 months, mostly as a substitute. He would come to the final few minutes of a game which earned him the moniker “the five-minute man”. He was able to get selected to the England U21 team in 1987, and he won three caps. After David O’Leary sustained an injury during the 1987-88 campaign, Caesar was a semi-regular player on the team, appearing in 25 games that season. But, despite his potential, Caesar was a bit nervy and uncertain player, with no confidence when facing an attacker one-on-one and prone to make errors that were well- known.
While at Colchester United in the mid 1990s, Caesar enjoyed something of a renaissance. After a string of poor performances for the club, his form – particularly his reading of the game – improved significantly, and he contributed a run of composed appearances in central defence in the 1994–95 season that won over many fans at Layer Road. He then played at non-league level at Dagenham where he was popular thanks to his “nice bloke” personality.
