Gunnar Nielsen is one of the most popular and richest Association Football Player who was born on October 7, 1986 in Tórshavn, Faroe Islands. Gunnar Nielsen (born 7 October, 1986) was the Faroese professional footballer, who plays as goalkeeper for Icelandic FH. FH. Nielsen has also played for HB, Boldklubben Frem, Gotu Itrottarfelag, Blackburn Rovers, Manchester City, Wrexham, Tranmere Rovers, Silkeborg, Motherwell, Stjarnan and the Faroe Islands national football team at all levels of age.

Nielsen was signed by Manchester City on a two-and-a-half-year contract in 2009 before joining Conference National side Wrexham on loan shortly thereafter. The first game he played in was the 1-0 loss to Histon on March 28. The team suspected that he had suffered a thumb injury in the game against Oxford United in April, which meant he was referred back to City for a scan which confirmed the injury. Nielsen began debut in his Premier League debut on 24 April 2010 , as a replacement to injury-stricken Shay Given in the 76th minute of Manchester City’s tie against Arsenal. The result was that Nielsen made history as the only Faroese footballer to compete in the Premier League. In the summer of 2010 He signed a contract to extend his contract for Manchester City that ran until 2012.

On 3 July 2013, Nielsen signed a 2-year deal with Motherwell where he had previously spent six months on loan in 2008. He left Motherwell on 4 March 2015, by mutual consent.

In early April 2013, Nielsen signed for Silkeborg of the Danish Superliga. Nielsen immediately debuted for the club on 8 April 2013, a 1–0 defeat to Aalborg.

On July 23, 2010 Nielsen was signed by League One team Tranmere Rovers on loan until the beginning of January 2011. The team made its debut at Tranmere with a 1-1 loss to Oldham Athletic on 7 August after sustaining an injury while on international duty Nielsen was out for more than three months on the sidelines prior to his return to Tranmere’s first squad of Tranmere in December.

Nielsen was born in Torshavn, Nielsen was signed by Blackburn Rovers for a “small” fee that was not disclosed on the 2nd of July 2007 after a transfer from BK Frem. Nielsen was testing the waters for Rovers during May wrote on the website of the club: “I am very pleased – it is a massive chance for me just to develop. He officially left the club on 7 December and told the Manchester City website he hopes to join a team in England or the Scandinavian Region in January 2013.
