Greti Schmid is one of the most popular and richest Politician who was born on May 24, 1954 in Bruneck, Trentino-Alto Adige/South Tyrol, Italy. Greti Schmid (nee Pohlin; born 24 May 1954) was a former Austrian politician from the Austrian People’s Party (OVP). Schmid, between 2000 until 2014, a member of the provincial Council of Federal State Government of Vorarlberg.

From February 2001 until February 2015 when she served as also the regional director at the OVP women’s group in Vorarlberg. Her successor to this role is the regional parlamentar Martina Ruscher.

Over the course of 15 years she spent in professional career she was a part of of four provincial governments led by OVP under two different provincial head. In the first instance she was a member of the state-run government under the governorship of Herbert Sausgruber until 11 October 2000. Then, she was an official of the provincial government with the designation of regional governor for Governor Markus Wallner. In the lead-up to the 2014 Landtagswahl she announced her departure from politics and following the election, resigned from the state’s government.

Scmid was born in Bruneck within the South Tyrol in Italy. After having graduated in the Department of Commercial Law in Bolzano, Italy, she went on to study biology in the University of Innsbruck in Austria in 1979. In 1984, she also worked as an Italian interpreter. From 1986 to 1988 she worked for the industry of private in Bregenz and between 1989 and 2000, she was an assistant to hospital’s management at Feldkirch, a Feldkirch Country Hospital in Feldkirch.

Schmid began her political career in Gofis. From 1995 until 2000 she was the Gofis representative for”Offene Dorfliste “Offene Dorfliste” and chairman of the Social Committee. Between 1999 and 2000 she was part of the Landtag for the OVP in the Vorarlberg Landtag and, as such, was made up the environmental committee that is part of the Volkspartei. Since October 2000 she was in charge of the areas of women, families as well as senior citizens and youth social affairs, health and health development cooperation as well as the policy on information technology and telecommunications for the region of Vorarlberg as a councilor within the Vorarlberg provincial government. She was an heir to Eva Maria Waibel.
