Greg Walden is one of the most popular and richest Politician who was born on January 10, 1957 in The Dalles, United States. Gregory Paul Walden (born January 10 1957) is an American politician and politician. He has been elected an elected U.S. Representative for Oregon’s 2nd congressional district . He was the first elected in 1998. He is an active member of the Republican Party and is in 2019 is the sole Republican representative in Oregon’s congressional delegation. The 2nd district encompasses over two thirds of Oregon (generally located west of the Cascades). The Waldens’ son is the three-time Oregon legislator Paul E. Walden.

On the 31st of January, 2007 Walden purchased Columbia Gorge Broadcasting, which operates five stations located in eastern Columbia River Gorge, to Bicoastal Columbia River LLC to avoid conflicts of interests that could occur due to his congressional duties.

From 2010 to 2011, Walden gave up his seat on the Committee on Energy and Commerce, at Republican leadership request so that Parker Griffith, who had recently switched parties, could take his spot on that committee.

Walden was chosen by Speaker John Boehner to be chairman of the House Majority Transition Committee. He served as chairman of the House Republican Leadership through most of 2010.

Smith didn’t run for the 1998 election for reelection. Walden easily took the Republican primary as well as the general election in November. His district is home to communities with a liberal inclination, like Ashland and his home town from Hood River, but most of it is heavily Republican and Walden was reelected 10 times without issues, never receiving less than 60% of the votes. The year 2002 saw him beat Democrat Peter Buckley, who later became a member in his own Oregon House of Representatives. in 2006, Walden beat Democratic candidate Carol Voisin, and in 2008, he was elected to a sixth term, securing 70 percent of the vote, beating Democrat Noah Lemas and Pacific Green Tristin Mock. After the loss of senator Gordon Smith in the 2008 elections, Walden became the only Republican who represented Oregon within Congress. Walden was the Press Secretary and Chief of Staff for Representative Denny Smith from 1981 to 1987. The congressman was elected as a member of the Oregon House of Representatives in 1988, and continued to serve in the House until 1995 in which time he was appointed to Oregon State Senate to fill the vacancy created following the election of Wes Cooley was elected to the U. S. House. Walden was elevated to the post of deputy majority leader in the Senate and was contemplating the possibility of running to run for Oregon governor in the year 1994. But, after learning that the baby the couple were expecting was suffering from an issue with the heart, Walden decided to not be a Governor candidate and not seek re-election in his state Senate. Their son died soon after birth.

Walden is a native of The Dalles, Oregon, the son of Elizabeth (nee McEwen) and Paul Ernest Walden. He graduated with the Bachelor of Science degree from The University of Oregon in 1981. Before he was appointed as a member of Congress, Walden owned and managed radio stations.
