Gregory Forristall (February 15, 1950 May 10 17th, 2017) was an American politician from the state of Iowa. He was a member of the Iowa House of Representatives from 2007 until his death in 2017.
The incident occurred in March of 2014 when he submitted an official police report that stated his assault by a citizen who was not his own Iowa State Capitol During a June 2014 trial that lasted for two days, jurors of six members found that the defendant was not guilty after an minute of discussion.
Forristall became the first person elected in House District 98 in November of 2006. He was elected to represent District 22 after the district maps were revised in 2010.

Forristall is a native of Council Bluffs, Iowa and was raised near Macedonia. After graduating in Carson-Macedonia High School, in the year 1968 Forristall completed his studies in international marketing and computer science through Iowa Western Community College and receive master’s and bachelor’s degrees in music from the University of Iowa in 1972 and 1973 , respectively.
He was a resident of Macedonia, Iowa with his wife, Carol, who taught music in Iowa public schools for 35 years. They were married in the year 1978.
Forristall died on May 10, 2017 in Omaha, Nebraska of cancer at the age of 67. Following his death, his wife Carol sought to replace him. She lost the Republican nomination to Jon Jacobsen.
