Greg Browning is one of the most popular and richest Field Hockey Player who was born on February 14, 1953 in Australia. Greg Browning (born 14 February 1953) is a former soccer player in Australia who was awarded an Olympic silver medal in the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
He was hired with Brisbane Hockey Association in 1996. Brisbane Hockey Association in 1996 as a Coaching/Athlete Development Officer. He then was named the Queensland’s Academy of Sports / NTC (Blades) Coach from 1997 until 2008. He was the coach of players of the Queensland Blades team to numerous Australian Hockey League titles and was runners-up on numerous occasions.
Greg Browning has been recognised by Hockey Queensland when he was first inducted into Hockey Queensland’s Hall of Fame in 2002 and further recognised with Distinguished Player Award when initiated in 2008. He was also named in Queensland’s Team of the Century in 2008. He was awarded Queensland’s Hockey Association Award of Merit in 1995.
In 2009 Browning was inducted into the Queensland Sport Hall of Fame.
Greg Browning was first selected for the Queensland Open Team in the year 1969 and continued to represent the state for 15 years up to 1983. He was the youngest player to ever be selected for the Queensland Open Team.

Greg began his professional career as a player for Redcliffe club, before moving to Bulimba as a coach/player before moving into South West United as Player Coach. He was a part of the Brisbane Hockey Association as a player from 1969 until 1983.
Greg was chosen to represent Australia at first in the year 1969, and then every year thereafter until 1982. He was chosen as a player for the three Olympics first in 1972 in Munich as well as in 1996 and in Montreal (Silver Medal) and Moscow in 1980 after the team resigned due to Federal Government insistence. He also attended the four World Cups first in 1971 in Barcelona followed by 1973 at Kuala Lumpur, 1978 in Buenos Aires where the team was awarded the Bronze Medal and finally in 1982 in Bombay (a Silver Medal). He also participated in 3 championship Trophies from the year 1978 Lahore (Silver Medal) as well as in the year 1980 in Kuala Lumpur (Bronze Medal) and Amsterdam (Silver Medal).
From 1999 to 2008 he was a selector for Queensland Open, U/21 and Country men, also a Queensland U/18 Men’s selector from 1999 to 2008. Greg also served as Australian Open Men’s selectors from 1989 to 1995.
