Clinton was born in Sidcup in Kent in 1953. He attended Chislehurst as well as Sidcup Grammar School. He was a cricketer with England’s English Schools Cricket Association and England Young Cricketers from 1970 until 1972.

He was also a coach at Kent and, as of 2017, is master-in-charge of cricket at Colfe’s School in Greenwich.

Grahame Selvey Clinton (born 5 May 1953) is an ex- English professional player of the game. The opening batsman was a player with Kent County Cricket Club from 1974 to 1978 , as well as in the Surrey County Cricket Club from 1979 until 1990.
