Originally, they were Kshatriyas from the Hayhay vansha which later became known as the Arod vansha. Govinda’s mother, who came from the Gahrwar Rajput family, hailed from Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. Aroon came to Mumbai from Gujranwala, which is now in Pakistan. He is best known for Mehboob Khan’s Aurat (1940). Aroon’s professional career as an actor lasted for ten years, from 1937 to 1947.
