Singhdeo, Kedar Nath Sahoo and Kedar Nath Sahoo, each of whom were Padma Shri award winners and Natasekhar Pattanayak, who was a Padma. The guru also trained with a guru in New York, under a grant offered by the Asian Cultural Council.
The holder of an award for senior scholars in the Ministry of Culture, Dubey was awarded with a prestigious award from the Government of India in 2012 with the fourth-highest civilian award, the Padma Shri. Dubey also was awarded Natya Tarang Puraskar of the Nataraj Music Academy as well as Natya Keerthi Shikha Puraskar at Sathyanjali Academy, Cochin, both in 2013, and Natya Veda Puraskar from Nataraj Music Academy in 2014.
Gopal Prasad Dubey is a winner of the Vocational Achievement Award of Rotary Club International. He was awarded the Jharkhand State Award in 2007 to recognize his contribution to the promotion of Chhau dance. He was presented with Suvarna Shankhu at the Keli Chhau festival in the year 2010.
