Lived 1903 – 1979. Giulio Natta discovered how to produce polymer chains with orderly spatial arrangements – i.e. stereoregular polymers. Such polymers can be customized to have different degrees of crystallinity and hence different physical properties, allowing them to be geared to different applications.
