On 17 December 2012 , he was appointed assistant coach at Padova along with Franco Colomba. In March 2013, on the 20th of March 2013, after Franco Colomba’s departure in office, Colomba was let go from the office. On the 22nd of July in 2014, he took on the role of an assistant coach for Pune City, an Indian Super League club Pune City. After the season, the club was unable to qualify for playoffs, so Colomba quit the team along and his team of coaches.

In 2000-2001, he was on the bench of Sambenedettese who were promoted to the Series C2. The following year , he was substituted by Paolo Beruatto. In 2003, he accepted the invitation of Saipa which is an Iranian club which plays in the Persian Gulf Pro League. In 2006 and 2007 he was back in Bologna in the role of an observer. He was later promoted to assistant coach at Bologna and Parma joined Franco Colomba’s technical department.
