Giorgio Rocca is one of the most popular and richest Alpine Skier who was born on August 6, 1975 in Chur, Canton of Graubünden, Switzerland. Giorgio Rocca (born 6 August 1975) is an Italian alpine skier who was skilled in slalom skis. Alongside Marc Girardelli, Ingemar Stenmark and Marcel Hirscher, he is the only skier to have won five Alpine Skiing World Cup slaloms consecutively, which was his feat in the 2005/2006 season. Alberto Tomba (7) has had the most World Cup slaloms consecutively. He currently ranks ninth on the all-time list of Slalom champions, winning an overall record of 11 wins.
Rocca began the 2005/2006 ski season with a record-breaking series of five consecutive wins in the initial five races in slalom. He outlined his impressive improvements in a mental point perspective, since he had made use of the aid of psychologists from a group to resolve the apparent insufficiency that had hindered him in previous seasons.
In January 2010, Rocca confirmed his retirement from competition, bringing forward plans to end his racing career at the end of the season due to his sustaining a groin injury in training which prevented him from competing at the 2010 Winter Olympics.
After two tough seasons in 2001, Rocca was once more on the podium, taking second place on the podium in Aspen as well as Madonna di Campiglio. In the month of January 2003, following another 2nd place in the Sestriere slalom race, Rocca finally took home his very first World Cup race on the Lauberhorn track located at Wengen located in Switzerland. In the 2005 season , he won two races from Chamonix and Flachau and also two bronze medals in his own home World Championship in Bormio, in the slalom, and the combined. Rocca also won in February of 2005 and this time in Kranjska Gora, and for some time was in contention in the race for Slalom World Cup title for the entire season.

Rocca was born in Chur, Switzerland. He made his debut at the Alpine Skiing World Cup on 6 January 1996 in Flachau. Then, Rocca broke his right knee and was unable to continue the circuit for a whole year. In March 1997, he achieved the first point-scoring performance in the World Cup, at the Shigakogen Slalom. He achieved his first top 10 finish in the month of November 1998 at the Aspen Slalom.
A year later Rocca achieved his first podium place with a third-place finish in the world-renowned Kitzbuhel Slalom. In 1999, he was awarded an Olympic bronze medal in the Alpine World Skiing Championships in Vail. Rocca was soon regarded as the legitimate heir to the Italian king Alberto Tomba, who had recently had his retirement. The responsibility, however, appeared to be a stumbling block for Rocca and hinder his growth along with a knee injury.
He recited the Olympic oath at the 2006 Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony. It was at these Olympics that he was hoping to win gold in his strongest event: slalom, after his great success in the world championships, so he decided to focus on this event. He did not enter the Giant Slalom or Super-G as originally planned, however he did compete in the Combined race where he placed 5th with a total time of 3:10.74. In the Slalom he was the first starter but he straddled at the second gate, throwing away his chances of being champion.
