The obituary of her on The Guardian quotes her as “She stood in awe when other climbers she knew had been lost including Alison Hargreaves, Chantal Mauduit and Chantal Mauduit.” She wrote about her historic climb: “Over the years four women were killed while trying climbing Kangchenjunga and this inspired me to appreciate more the luck I had to be the first woman to complete an ascent and then safely return.”
